President Ramaphosa addressed the nation on 27 June 2021

President Ramaphosa addressed the nation on 27 June 2021, just 12 days after his previous national address.  He iterated that we have walked a long road to deal and address Covid-19. Having faced two devastating waves of Covid-19, and which were overcome by responding swiftly and decisively. However we now face another great challenge. A 3rd wave.
  • The daily new cases has overtaken the 2nd wave. Gauteng accounts for 60% of new cases in the country. With exception of Northern Cape and Free State, all infections are steadily rising. In several provinces the healthcare is stretched to the max.  ICU beds are in short supply.
  • Average daily new infections is more than doubling. With a massive resurgence of Covid-19, the situation has gotten worse over the past few days. The virus is mutating and creating new variations of Covid-19.  We now have a Delta variant, found in 82 countries globally, and now detected in five of South Africa’s provinces. Delta variant is more easily transmitted. It can infect far more people and can reinfect people.
  • First Covid-19 wave lasted 15 weeks in South Africa. Second Covid-19 wave lasted 9 weeks in South Africa.
South Africa has endured two devastating waves of the Coronavirus and are currently experiencing the third wave.

Therefore, we need to take extra precautions…

So… Can we have our wedding now? No Weddings.
